The objectives of this course are:
-teach students basic mappings used in geodesy and geoinformatics
-explain unavoidable distortions that appear in different mappings
-create a foundation that will help in understanding the transformation and conversion that will be processed in details in other courses
Distinguish the basic coordinate systems in Geodesy and Geoinformatics Describe basic types of mappings from a plane to a plane, from a plane to a space, from a space to a plane and from a space to a space and their characteristics
Estimate distortions that appears in mappings
Apply Helmert, affine and projective transformation
Apply transformations by using CAD and GIS computer programs, especially geocoding and georeferencing
Use software for coordinate transformations
Estimate suitability of different methods for coordinate transformation
