Description

Short Description This course provides students with an introduction of GIS in web and mobile environments, including LBS. Learning Outcomes of Course Having completed this course students will be able to: ■ Describe the design requirements for static, interactive and dynamic maps distributed on the WWW; ■ Discuss the development and use of Location Based Services (LBS); ■ Explain the software and system requirements for web-enabled mapping, GIS & LBS ■ Discuss the special requirements of mapping for mobile & hand-held devices ■ Critically assess web mapping services ■ Discuss positioning methods for mobile GIS & LBS ■ Use API and web publishing tools to prepare maps for web distribution ■ Discuss the social implications of mapping on the WWW
