Aerodynamics

Introduction to aerodynamics, aerodynamic objectives and re- search methods in aerodynamics. Airfoil theory: description of ge- ometry, pressure distribution over the airfoil, aerodynamic force co- efficients, airfoil aerodynamic characteristics. Finite extension air- foil: description of geometry, rotary lifting line theory, induced drag, airfoil aerodynamic characteristics. Subcritical and supercritical air- foil and wing flow. Elements of high speed aerodynamic theory: small disturbance theory, sound barrier, densification and dilution waves, aerodynamic heating. Aerodynamic interference, super- sonic air flow, elements of complete aircraft aerodynamics, experi- mental aerodynamic characteristics of model aircraft.
