"The subject of the STAR is the scientific field of space technology for the design of space missions and the implementation of satellites, instruments and satellite subsystems for Earth observation, telecommunications and space exploration (upstream), and the development of applications and remote sensing services, navigation and satellite telecommunications (downstream). Therefore, the STAR Postgraduate Diploma awards the Postgraduate Diploma to the following specializations:\n\n- Space Technology - Space Upstream\n- Space Applications and Services - Space Downstream\nThe objective of the STAR is to provide a substantial and targeted offer from the top Universities of the country with extensive experience in space technology, of an innovative postgraduate program in Space Technologies, Applications and Services which provides the necessary knowledge for graduate scientists and engineers to be able to respond to the new scientific challenges and technological requirements of space technology.\n\nFor the fulfillment of the objectives of the \"STAR\" IMSP, collaborations will be developed with:\n\n- Laboratories and research teams with excellence and innovative research results in the field of space technology and its applications and services, owned by academic institutions linked to the IMSP (such as the University of the Aegean in Space and Maritime Affairs and the Space School on Space Issues and security) and research centers (such as the Athena Research Center), as well as centers of excellence abroad.\n- Enterprises and Industries, members of the Corallia Si-Cluster, operating in specialized areas of space technology and its applications and services, as well as the ESA Business Incubator Center.\n- The Hellenic Space Center (HSC) and the European Space Agency (ESA).\n- Foreign agencies for lectures of invited distinguished scientists, exchange of students and participation of our graduate students in international space experiments and constructions. Having identified common educational goals and research interests, the co-operating actors promote the establishment and operation of the \"STAR\" IMSP by setting the following objectives:\n\na. Providing high quality studies and research to students of the \"STAR\" IMSP for space mission planning and the deployment of satellites, instruments and satellite subsystems for space observation, telecommunications and space exploration (upstream), and the development of applications and remote sensing services, navigation and satellite telecommunications (downstream) according to the needs of the Greek and European ecosystems.\n\nb. Cultivating research and creative thinking with the right combination of depth and breadth of knowledge leading to the deepening of state-of-the-art technology and conducting innovative high-level research.\n\nc. Promote scientific co-operation and synergy between the Hellenic Space Agency and the European Space Agency with the actors involved in the program.\n\nd. The development of collaborations between the participants in the program with corporations and industries, members of the Corallia Si-Cluster, operating in specialized areas of space technology and its applications and services, as well as the ESA Business Incubator Center.\n\ne. The development of partnerships and synergies between the participants in the program to attract investment from International Organizations and Space Programs (eg the European Space Agency, the European Union's Research Executive Agency (REA), the European Organization for Meteorology (EUMETSAT)), defense space programs (EDA), initiatives from the country in the development of national and multinational satellites, European space programs (Galileo, Copernicus), and Scientific Space Programs (ESA's Scientific Programs Committee (ESA), such as ESA Cosmic Vision 2015-25).\n\nf. The organization of actions, workshops and seminars to promote the activities of European Space Education Resource Office (ESERO) in primary and secondary education, as well as the activities of the Greek BusinessIncubationCentre (BIC) in the development of space applications for the benefit of citizens.\n\ng. The organization of \"career days\" with the participation of members of the Corallia si-Cluster, for the direct connection of the Program to the labor market and the better absorption of its graduates.\n\nThe modern, yet strong and complementary know-how in space technologies, applications and services of the participants in the \"STAR\" IMSP can work positively and bidirectionally towards the completion of these goals."@en . . . .
