"The master's degree course in Geosciences intends to provide students with an advanced preparation for the study of the structure, properties and geological and environmental evolution of the earth, with methods of study and intervention in different geological environments, including terrestrial environments, marine and coastal. The training of experts in this field of Earth Sciences starts from a solid theoretical and practical preparation on the most advanced investigation methodologies. The teaching activities of the LM in Geosciences include lectures integrated with laboratory exercises, on the ground and in the sea which intend to provide the student with theoretical-practical skills that can be used in the scientific and professional fields for the study and management of the territory. Knowledge of the fundamentals and techniques of measurement, Data analysis and interpretation are taught through classroom, laboratory and field activities with the most up-to-date hardware and software tools currently available. Employment fields Graduates in Geosciences will find employment opportunities in the exercise of activities involving the assumption of responsibilities for programming, design, construction management, testing and monitoring of interventions relating to the analysis, planning and management of the territory and natural assets , including water resources; environmental impact assessments, with particular reference to geological aspects and geophysical surveys. They will be able to take care of the design, the execution and analysis of the results of surveys for scientific purposes or aimed at interventions or monitoring of geological environments. These skills will be able to find application in companies and professional studios, in public administrations, in research institutions. The Master's Degree course includes three curricula called 'Geological Exploration', 'Geo-resources: Genesis and Applications' and 'Applied and Environmental Geology'. The curricula are aimed at: • Analyzing and interpreting the dynamics of geological processes for the purpose of protecting the territory, cultural and archaeological heritage and mitigating the impacts due to natural risks and human activities. • Provide preparation aimed at the quantification and management of natural resources, as well as their protection, and to valorisation and use operations. In-depth knowledge of the modeling properties of geodynamic processes involving the Earth's interior. • Provide preparation aimed at the planning and execution of geognostic investigations (geological, geotechnical, hydrogeological, geophysical) and the drafting of environmental impact studies."@en . . "The training in the Geological Exploration sector is dedicated to the study of outcropping geological bodies and of the subsoil using sedimentological-stratigraphic and structural methods and to direct acquisition techniques (collection and analysis of data on the ground) and indirect (geophysical techniques) aimed at the production of thematic maps and to the creation of three-dimensional models of rock bodies, both outcropping and underground. The activities envisaged by the course also provide useful tools for energy storage (e.g. H2) and for the seizure and storage of polluting materials (e.g. CO2), as well as correct use of traditional energy sources. Training in the Georesources sector is focused on mineralogical characterization, petrography and geochemistry of geological bodies and their constituents (minerals, rocks, fluids) and the study of their genesis, including sedimentary, magmatic and metamorphic processes that lead to the formation of mineral deposits. The tools provided to perform these functions range from field sampling activities, description and interpretation of geological materials through analytical and experimental methods, integration with geophysical data, creation of geological models through the use of latest generation software tools. The training in the applied and environmental geological sector is oriented towards the preparation of a professional/researcher aimed at the management and protection of the territory, both continental and marine."@en .
