To realise that observing electromagnetic radiation of celestial bodies is the basic concept to gain information on the cosmos - To understand the basic concepts in the description of radiative processes relevant in astronomy and astrophysics - To be able to identify and evaluate the main radiation processes for a wide range of astronomical objects - To be able to apply the theory of radiation processes in a sample of case studies of realistic astrophysical objects and environments
