LEARNING OUTCOMES After the course, the student will… know the basics of the interaction of radiation and matter; be familiar with the application of detectors in the studies of particle, X-ray, gamma-ray and neutron radiation; know the operational principle of semiconductor diode detectors and other selected types of solid-state detectors; have an idea of the principles of detector signal processing and data-acquisition; be familiar with the application of radiation detectors in the instrumentation of nuclear and particle physics. CONTENT 1. Interaction of radiation with matter. 2. Solid-state detectors. 3. Detector read-out.
