his module targets students interested in learning how to rigorously use geo-data to estimate and monitor changes in the shape
of the Earth's surface and its gravity field. The signals of interests can be related to local human activities, such as gas or ground-
water extraction, or, for example, related to climate change, such as ice-mass losses in Greenland or Antarctica. In this data-
oriented module, students will acquire the skills and theoretical background required to process Earth observation data in order to
retrieve the signals of interest, in particular by using Fourier analysis methods. After completing this module, students will be able to:
Assess the quality of EO data and derived products
Design and apply hypothesis testing procedures to select the model which best represents physical reality
Apply spectral analysis techniques to extract relevant geophysical information from EO data
Apply geodetic observation and analysis techniques to quantify and characterize changes in the shape of the Earth and its gravity
field
Analyse the link between geodetic observables and the underlying geodynamical processes
