Relativistic astrophysics  

Introduction: planets, stars, galaxies – scales and units. Reviewing statistical mechanics and introducing the concept of an equation of state – equilibrium physics. Describing structure and evolution of stellar objects using the concept of hydrostatic equilibrium; Newtonian and general relativistic approaches. Understanding the decoupling of radiation from matter to describe stellar atmospheres – opacity and mean-free path.
