Course Content 1. Introduction to high-energy Universe: astrophysical objects & observational methods 2. Gas dynamics, accretion flows, Bondi accretion, Roche lobe overflow & accretion discs 3. Radiation mechanisms: Bremsstrahlung, synchrotron & inverse Compton radiation 4. Supernova remnants, astrophysical shocks & particle acceleration ALGEMENE COMPETENTIES 1. Knowlegde of the astrophysical objects and observational methods of the high-energy Universe. 2. Understanding of gas dynamics, accretion flows and shocks. 3. Understanding of Bremstrahlung, synchrotron emission and Inverse Compton scattering in an astrophysical context. 4. Understanding of particle acceleration in astrophysical shocks.
