This course provides an overview on the principles and applications of spaceborne, airborne and terrestrial sensing technologies for geographic data acquisition as well as techniques for processing and information extraction from the acquired data.
After the course the student is able to
• describe different sensing techniques, from different platforms, for acquiring geospatial data
• explain the applied metrics for quality assessment of the acquired data
• apply data processing and machine learning techniques on the (self) acquired geographic data
• analyse the applied data processing/ information extraction algorithms and evaluate their capabilities/drawbacks
• compare different sensing techniques for their suitability in different application domains from their efficiency and quality points of view
• select appropriate sensing technologies for tackling a spatial decision making problem
